The film Max, while not a true biography of Hitler, explores the subject in a clever, frightening, and moving way. This movie fascinates with a mixture of the repellant intensity of lean hungry Hitler, the crucible of post WW I Germany, and the engrossing birth of modern art. Hitler’s struggle with his unrealized art ambitions and burgeoning modern art crash against one another with all the force of the proverbial unstoppable force and immovable object. This film is art about art.
I want to thank John Cusack for forgoing his salary so that this amazing film could be made and Noah Taylor for his incredible performance as Hitler. I highly recommend Max . |
