As I’ve mentioned before, we recently moved into a new house. My two cats have been busily exploring the premises, and, unfortunately, finding new ways to get themselves into trouble.  About two a.m. last night, I was awakened by a banging noise. After climbing out of bed and meandered around the house drowsily looking for the source of the commotion, I came upon Pearl standing on the entry way boot bench looking down at the doors below her. Sure enough, the sound was shortly repeated as one of the doors opened a crack and thumped shut again. I reached down and opened the door and Cameo popped out like a jack in the box. She is rather good at opening doors from the outside, but not nearly so successful from the inside. As T.S. Elliot observed, “Cats are on the wrong side of every door.” If you would like to read more of what Elliot had to say about cats, try his book--Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats.
